First round pick Anthony Spencer, the DE from Purdue, has agreed to a 5-year, $9 million contract with $6 million guaranteed. The soon-to-be OLB is expected to compete with the veteran OLB Greg Ellis, who is evidently still recovering from last year’s Achilles’ injury which he seems to have tweaked during the first day of training camp.
Spencer recorded 10.5 sacks last year for Purdue and was second on the team with 93 tackles. The 6′-3″, 265 lbs. rookie is expected to play opposite LB DeMarcus Ware and contribute greatly to a revamped Dallas defense this year.
