REWARDS: Owens has excelled at reaching the end zone throughout his career. He is always a serious threat to approach the 10-touchdown mark if he plays the full season. In an injury-riddled campaign last season, he still recorded a league-high 13 scores in 16 games. A new offense should do wonders for him this season. Expect Owens to be a bigger part of the game plan in new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett’s scheme. A full season with quarterback Tony Romo at the helm should serve also Owens well, since the two developed nice chemistry at the end of last season.

RISKS: Though still productive, at 33, Owens is no longer in his prime. He had difficulty holding on to the football last year, dropping 14 passes. Will injuries be the norm now that he is advancing in age or was 2006 simply an aberration?

BOTTOM LINE: At this point in his career, Owens truly is a boom-or-bust player. Owens’ propensity to score touchdowns makes him a viable fantasy commodity. However, age and inconsistency are legitimate concerns prospective owners must take into consideration. Owens was simply invisible some weeks last season. If he can stay healthy and out of trouble, Owens remains a solid No. 1 option for owners.
