Cowboys Lose One Player, Gain Another
Posted by David Quinn on November 6th, 2007 filed in MainThe decision of who to cut to make room on the roster for newly activated Tank Johnson was decided for the Cowboys after having to place rookie FB Deon Anderson on IR yesterday. Anderson suffered a torn rotator cuff in the win Sunday night over the Eagles.
Although this may seem a simple solution to the roster problem, Coach Phillips says he may not be finished making roster adjustments. Specifically, he states that since they are now somewhat short at the fullback position, they may have to look into possibly bringing in another one. With Oliver Hoyte coming off of a six-week neck injury, that might not be a bad idea.
Johnson will be extremely useful in an improved Dallas defense, mainly in giving relief to current NT Jay Ratliff, who has really played well of late, and in other designed defenses. He is expected to provide some extra push in the middle of the defensive line that some say the Cowboys have been missing, but considering their stats against the run in recent weeks, it will just be added strength, in my opinion.
With a huge game looming against the Giants this Sunday, the addition of Johnson will prove extremely timely as I expect this time, the game will have considerably less scoring and be more of a defensive battle than the Week 1 matchup.
As for the choice of photo, I just love this one and the play made by Witten, who probably assured himself of yet another Pro-Bowl appearance Sunday night.
