probowl-players.jpgDallas placed more players in this year’s Pro Bowl in Hawaii than any other team in the NFL with 11, 7 of which are starters for the NFC.  There were a few surprise selections and also a few left off that might should have gone, but whose complaining.

Of course, Tony Romo, Terrell Owens and Jason Witten made it, Owens and Witten as starters, as Romo came in second to Brett Favre.  OL Andre Gurode, Leonard Davis and Flozell Adams also are making the trip to Hawaii, the first time for Davis who is also in his first year with the Cowboys.   A very welcome surprise was the inclusion of Marion Barber voted in as a reserve player this year.

On the defensive side, OLB DeMarcus Ware is a first-teamer and CB Terrence Newman and S Ken Hamlin are in their first Pro Bowl.   Roy Williams didn’t get picked this time and Greg Ellis was overlooked as well, but were picked as first alternates along with P Matt McBriar and S Keith Davis, mainly for their special teams play.

But by far the biggest and best surprise, for me anyway, was the selection of rookie K Nick Folk, and as a starter no less.   He has had a great year, but I’m sure his kick off statistics were not as good as some others.

So Dallas finally beat New England in something this year as the Pats only placed 8 in the AFC ranks.  Conratulations to all the players selected as it must be quite a thrill to get voted in by the fans to go to Hawaii and basically get paid for what most would call a “working vacation”.
