Cowboys Lock-Up Patrick Crayton in 4 Year Deal

The Dallas Cowboys didn’t wait till the off season before signing WR Patrick Crayton to a new deal. The Fort Worth Star Telegram is reporting that the Cowboys have signed Patrick Crayton to a 4 year, 14 million dollar contract extension on Thursday which would have him in a Cowboys uniform through the 2011 season.

The new contract will pay out $1 million in 2008, $1.5 million in 2009, $2 million in 2010, and $2.5 million in 2011 with a $1 million escalator.

While I agree that Crayton has had a great year for the Dallas Cowboys, I do wonder if the Cowboys might ought to have waited till the off season in hopes of a better option coming a long. All the same, congratulations are in order for Patrick Crayton for getting his new deal.

I agree, given the chances that Crayton has had, I don’t think he necessarily showed the potential to be a top receiver, though he has had a great year. Hopefully Glenn and Owens can continue to play for a few more years without any major issues.
