Did Romo Play Hurt Sunday?
Posted by Matt Loede on January 17th, 2008 filed in News, OpinionsTony Romo continues to take a beating about the Cowboys and the way that things turned out on Sunday in Dallas, but now there may be more to the story than meets the eye. ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that Romo actually was injured early in the stunning 21-17 loss to the Giants. The reporter says that Romo hurt the same thumb that was hurt a few weeks back on just his second pass attempt of the day.
Michael Johnson hit Romo’s hand on the play, which according to Werder made Romo’s thumb swell up, causing him to not be at his best in the contest. While Romo may have not had the best game of his career, it appeared that for the most part the passes were there on Sunday, but a big problem was the Cowboys lack of protection in the second half as well as dropped passes.
Of course all of this could be a cover-up by the team to let soemthing like that leak to get the heat off of Romo. It also could be a cover-up to allow Romo to skip the Pro Bowl as reports are going out that he has been invited to play in the AT&T golf tournament that weekend at Pebble Beach. Of course playing hurt to not play in the Pro Bowl and then showing up at a golf tourney would not be appreciated by the legue, but there’s nothing they can do about it.

After the way everyone treated Tony about his getaway during his bye-week I can’t imagine he would care what the league thinks. Private life means exactly that. Tony didn’t miss any tackles or drop any passes last week. I think he will continue to grow, and improve in the coming seasons.
