Cowboys Already Building a Coaching Staff for Garrett?

Could the Cowboys be building a coaching staff for Jason Garrett, who isn’t even the coach yet? That’s the speculation in today’s Fort Worth Star-Telegram, which is reporting that the Cowboys may have interest in talking to Dom Capers, who Garrett worked with while in Miami. The story is that Capers may come in and coach the defense, and it’s a defense that current coach Wade Phillips has little knowledge of, as it’s a different version of the 3-4. Also Capers has no ties whatsoever with Phillips, but he does of course with Garrett.

It would be the second coach recently hired that has more ties to Garrett than with Phillips, as the team recently hired Hudson Houck to coach the O-line, another coach that worked with Garrett in Miami. It all is going to add up to make it seem rather obvious that Phillips will be out the door sooner than later with Garrett stepping right in as the new head coach.
