Cowboys Could Lose Adams To Free Agency

adams.jpgThe deadline for Jones’, et al. and Flozell Adams’ agent to reach an agreement is set for about 11 a.m. tomorrow.  If they don’t, Adams may be signed as early as Friday, the opening day of free agency.

If you look at what options are available to both parties, it would seem both are in favorable situations and it’s basically a coin-toss to see what happens.  Adams made his fourth Pro Bowl last season and still has at least 2-3 years before possibly retiring, at age 36 or so.  He will most likely bring top dollar from about any team he chooses right now and it might be a good time for him to do so.  On the other side, Dallas has three young and recently signed draftees waiting in the wings and the option of moving Davis to LT.  Davis is experienced at the slot having performed there for all of his years with the Cardinals.  With all the other free agents needed to be signed, Adams is the most expendable, that’s right, I used the word “expendable” in reference to one of the greatest offensive lineman to have played the game!  But it is quite possible the situation is prime for him to leave Dallas for other environs, but rest assured Cowboys fans, he will sign a similar deal that Emmitt Smith and others have in the past to retire and ultimately, enter the HOF as a Cowboy.
