So Pacman Jones Might be a Cowboy…

In Big D, anything is possible.  When Jerry Jones is the owner of one of the most celebrated and controversial sporting organizations it’s even more likely that anything would happen.  So it’s not in the least bit surprising that Pacman Jones could become the newest cornerback on the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys have strived in the past bringing in some of the league’s most controversial and troubled players.  Nate Newton, Leon Lett, Michael Irvin, Deon Sanders, and even Terrell Owens just to name a few.  Pacman Jones wouldn’t be the first player by any means to have a questionable (at best) background coming onto the Dallas Cowboys.

It also may not be an all out bad idea either for the Cowboys, if they can get the deal worked out right.  Losing a conditional 4th Round pick for a player of his caliber wouldn’t be all that risky, in fact with Pacman’s talent it would almost be a deal.  That’s not all that would have to be done though for the Cowboys to make out on the upper end of any deal.

They Cowboys will need to restructure Jones’ contract to minimize the cap hit if he doesn’t work out, and also might add a few conditions into the contract to insure if he does act up that the Cowboys won’t be hit too hard by releasing him early.  Let’s face it though, the Cowboys secondary has been the weakest link in the last few years.  If Pacman Jones can come back at the same level he was before his suspension this could be a huge addition for the Dallas Cowboys.

According to many sources, including NFL Network’s Adam Schefter, the question so much now is not if it’s when, but in the world of football nothing is ever said and done until the contract is complete.  There are a lot of ifs that stand in the way of Jones playing for the Cowboys next season; a trade agreement, a new contract agreement, and Communist Goodell has to okay Jones’ suspension to end.   If those if’s happen than it’s likely that you will see Pacman in a Cowboys uniform provided he stays away from strip clubs and police cars.

There is a slightly insignificant reason to like the idea of Jones coming to the Cowboys next season; in free agency many of the Joneses left, maybe this Jones (as long as he doesn’t jones for another strip club) can help fill some of that void…Jerry Jones willing.
