With the Pacman Jones deal now close to conclusion, the Cowboys have reinforced their position for the draft tomorrow by acquiring the fourth round pick of the Dolphins (who else!) in exchange for LB Akin Ayodele and TE Anthony Fasano. Now, when the deal for Jones is done, which includes the Cowboys fourth round pick of No. 126, they will get pick No. 100 in the fourth round from Miami. Not too shabby, Mr. Jones!
The trade seems to be a little much at first glance, but now that the Cowboys have Zach Thomas and other TE’s such as Tony Curtis, it makes some sense. Certain aspects of the Jones’ deal are more confusing, such as the rewrite of Pacman’s contract and other stipulations, but overall, it appears to be a sound compromise for both the Titans and Cowboys.
I plan on providing up-to-date info and analysis of draft activities tomorrow afternoon, provided there are no disruptions in my internet access, so stay tuned for more as NFL ’08 Draft Day unfolds.
