Glenn Changes Mind, Now Wants to Stay a Cowboy

Cowboys WR Terry Glenn has been at odds with the team for the past week, and failed to show up for a mandatory minicamp, even at one point stating he did not want to be with the team anymore.  It seems that cooler heads, at least on the part of Glenn, have prevailed, and now he’s coming out and trying to make amends with the club.

In an interview earlier today with ESPN, Glenn said that he does want to stay with the Cowboys, and gave his reasoning for not showing up when he should have been there.  “I want Jerry to understand that I know he has the ultimate power in everything that goes on with the Cowboys, and I’m not trying to challenge him in any way, shape or form,” Glenn said. “He can — and will — determine the outcome of this because it’s ultimately his decision. But what I want is to remain a Cowboy.

“I’ve been here for five years and I’ve made Dallas my home, and I would love nothing more than to be a Dallas Cowboy….I’m not trying to be at odds with Jerry,” Glenn said. “These words and comments coming from me were strictly frustration, knowing football season is right around the corner and I don’t know if my future is here, there or anywhere. I’m ready to give 100 percent. I just want to know if this is going to be my home.”

The back and forth between the Cowboys and Glenn seems to be the team wanting him to sign an injury waiver, making them not fully liable for the full sum of what Glenn would earn should he get hurt before the season.  Last season Glenn played in just one regular season game due to pre-season arthroscopic knee surgery.  Seems like he’ realizing that he’d better play nice, or the team may just dump him.

  1. Intensity says:

Terry Glenn is a playmaker, but his right knee is bone to bone without the cushion in there.

As a fan, I would love to see him on the field selfishly. However, as a human being, I don’t want him to injure his knee for life, just to get back on the field for several games.
I too hope Terry can remain with the Cowboys and play out the season uninjured or, at least in some capacity to continue mentoring Hurd and Austin.

Maybe they can sign some type of agreement that will enable him to collect his full salary even if he get’s injured, by remaining on as a Wide receiver assistance coach or something to that effect. Because his knowledge of the game is just as valuable as his play!

Terry, from all the fans in Dallas, please don’t go! Remain a Cowboy in some capacity!
