Steve Smith to the Cowboys?

Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys have been in the market for another big-time receiver for quite some time now. Joe Horn and Anquan Boldin were openly sought after, while they tried to lure Chad Johnson away from the Bengals behind closed doors. After being unsuccessful on all accounts, a new prospect has surfaced.

Steve Smith, one of the hardest working wide outs in the game, has gotten himself into a bit of trouble with his team again. The Carolina Panthers have suspended him for the first two regular season games after punching a teammate in the face. This is not the first incident of this kind that Smith has gotten himself into, and it seems that his team has grown tired of it. Matt Mosely, of, reports that the Panthers’ front office has considered dealing number 89 to another team.

Over in Oxnard, California, the location of the Cowboys training camp, the name “Steve Smith” can be heard rolling off the tongues of Cowboys coaches and execs.

This team has been gracious to many players by giving them a chance to start over. Terrell Owens was the most productive member of the offense last year. Tank Johnson is making waves in training camp. Adam Jones is progressing very well. And Marcus Dixon is working hard to earn a roster spot. It seems as though Dallas is the perfect place for Steve Smith to turn over a new leaf.
