Cowboys Close Preseason At Home Tonight Against Vikes-Jones Reinstated

Dallas will host the last preseason game in Texas Stadium tonight when they play the Minnesota Vikings at 7p.m. CST on CBS.  Since it is the final preseason matchup, the Cowboys are not wanting to risk much more in terms of injuries, so don’t expect to see very many, if any, starting players on the field.   In other words, be prepared for a rather lackluster performance from the Cowboys who will be looking basically at roster cuts during this one.

Richard Bartel, who actually played and starred for a local Texas college, Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas, will start at QB for Dallas.  After spending all of last year on the practice squad, Bartel will have about 3 hours to prove his worth for this season.  Whether that’s on the PS again or as one of the very valuable 53-man roster spots remains to be seen.  He has seen some playing time this preseason, nothing spectacular though, a very partisan 11-of-13 for 81 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in two games are his current stats.

But the big news just released today, not very long ago in fact, was the full reinstatement of Adam “Pacman” Jones by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.  This clears the way for him to play the entire season for the Cowboys whereas he had previously only been allowed to participate in team practice and preseason games.

It will likely be difficult to keep him off the field tonight, so that might be the most interesting thing to watch for in tonight’s game.  Will Jones field some punts/kickoffs and play coverage as well?
