Cowboys Route the Philadelphia Eagles in Nail-Biter Fashion

Many people saw this game coming down to who had the better defense.  We all saw Philadelphia play against the Rams in a very dominating offensive and defensive performance, and we also saw the Cowboys beat the Browns in a similar dominating performance of their own.  This week however, the Eagles and the Cowboys would have nothing to do with a defensive show down, as the Cowboys would eventually beat the Eagles in the fourth quarter 41-37 in an offensive shoot out.

The Cowboys looked impressive in the first quarter, putting 14 points on the board with Tony Romo connecting with T.O. for a 74 yard TD and a long kick return by Felix Jones for a score.  The defense even looked mildly impressive holding the Eagles impressive passing attack to a mear two  touchdowns, but that would come to a sudden hault in the second quarter.

Tony Romo would make two errors in consecutive drives that would ultimately give the Eagles two touchdowns.  Romo looked as though he would dodge a sack and still make a big play when he threw the ball into the hands of Asante Samuel, and in the next possesion fumble the ball in the end zone and recovered by Chris Gocong for an Eagles touchdown.  Putting the Eagles ahead 20-14

Dallas was down but certainly not out, with time still left in the second quarter Romo would find Owens again in the end zone connecting with a 4 yard pass this time.  The Eagles would answer back with a 74 yard drive up the field for their 3rd touchdown of the game to close the first half of the game, 30-24.

Midway through the third quarter Marion Barber would be the first to find the end zone in the second half of the game, and the only player to see the end zone in the third quarter, when Tony Romo would connect with him for a 17 yard pass completion and the complimentary go ahead touchdown.  The score at the end of the third now 31-30 Dallas; but the Eagles found themselves at the Dallas Cowboys 1 yard line to open the fourth quarter.

To open the fourth quarter the Eagles would score again with a 1 yard touchdown run by Brian Westbrook his second of the game.  Dallas would answer back by driving the ball 40 yards down field before the drive stalled out.  Nick Folk would hit a 47 yard field goal making the 37-34.  The next Eagles drive would end with a fumble and Dallas would recover the ball.  Tony Romo would find Witten deep putting the Cowboys in the redzone again, and would cap it off with a Marion Barber 1 yd TD run.

The Eagles would take the game to the wire, but were unable to convert drives into points and would eventually fall to the Dallas Cowboys 41-37.  While the game may not have been anyone’s defensive masterpiece their was so much tape for the highlight reel it might actually save time to just watch the game again.
