Jeff Roman, site editor for, proposed a little Q&A session regarding the upcoming Rams-Cowboys game this Sunday.  I thought it a terrific idea, so here is what transpired.  Thanks for the insight and candidness, Jeff.
CG: Has the replacement of your head coach for Jim Haslett helped or hurt the team?
RG: Undeniably yes, if just simply for the attitude adjustment.  The Rams team under ex-head coach Scott Linehan had gotten stale, uninterested and down on themselves.  Haslett has worked this team into a positive, fiery group.  And after one game, the reviews are positive but no one can know what to expect from the Rams going forward.
CG:  I know they got their first win last week, but how do you think it will play out for the season?
RG: I almost ran right into the second question with my first question answer, but we really have no idea how the changes will play out.  There are two sides to it, but I think most fans are looking at the positive aspects of it after last weeks win.  In that the Rams played inspired, passionate football and got some good breaks (finally!) and won the game.  I think no one expects the Rams to get into the playoffs, but if the Rams play passionate and competitive football for the rest of the year, I think that is not out of the world to expect.
CG: Also, what is the problem with Steven Jackson and the running game in your opinion?
RG: The main problem with the running game is consistency especially in the blocking for Steven Jackson.  Jackson has had some fine game with some decent sized runs – one against the Giants in which he was given a truck-sized hole, but tripped 10 yards down field.  The Rams offensive line cannot consistently create the creases that Steven Jackson needs and Jackson has been hopping around a little bit looking for the long run and not content to take the 2-5 yard gains.  If the offensive line starts creating holes consistently and Jackson starts hitting those holes consistently, I think we will see an improvement in the Rams running game.
CG: Should they have possibly made a trade this week for another key player, say QB, WR, etc.?
RG: There were no rumblings at the trade deadline, but if anything it would have been nice to add a top-flight corner as 3 of the Rams top 6 corners are down with injury (2 are on IR).
