No Romo – Star QB to Be on the Bench This Week and Next for Cowboys

For those that thought QB Tony Romo would be back this week vs the Bucs, or even next week – think again.  The star QB is saying that he is going to miss the next two games due to his broken pinkie finger.  It appears that he won’t be back till after the teams bye week and in time for their huge game vs the Redskins on November 16th.  “I don’t know when I’ll be back,” Romo said. “I think definitely the idea now is to get healthy by that bye week.”

He did try to give it a go last week during the week in practice, but by the end of the week realized there was no way he was going to be able to throw in a game.  Instead the team turned to 40-year-old Brad Johnson, and the Cowboys were destroyed by the Rams in St.Louis.  This week they take on a very good Tampa Bay team at home, and again will have to turn to Johnson.

Romo did not take part in practice today for Dallas.  Wade Phillips said today that Romo would not even be the backup this week, and that role will go to former Vikings backup Brooks Bollinger.  “I could go out there and probably be a below average player and I wouldn’t help this team,” Romo said. “And I would be risking it.”
