Pittsburgh Game Will Determine December For Cowboys

The upcoming road game in Pittsburgh will go a long ways towards deciding how this December will go for this year’s Cowboys team.  Of course there’s the old rivalry of the two teams and the Steelers were the last team Dallas beat in a Super Bowl, but there’s also the fact this is the first game in what has been an under-achieving month for the Cowboys the past several years.

Most of the rosters of the teams now have nothing but possible childhood memories of the old Steelers-Cowboys Super Bowl games, but I have some very vivid images of them and I can tell you this year’s teams are eerily similar to those old ones.  Both teams have young, gunslingers for quarterbacks, tough runners and some very good receivers.  Like they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Since his return, Romo has led his team to three straight wins and thrown for over 300-yards twice with six touchdown passes.  Roethlisberger has had some tough games, but has managed to win two of the last three.  His defense has played a big part in those wins, but so has the Cowboys defense for Romo.   Both teams have endured injuries to key players such as RB Willie Parker for the Steelers and Romo for the Cowboys.

Both teams have extremely talented pass rushing linebackers and hold the one and two spots in the league in terms of sacks, Pittsburgh being first with 42 total sacks and 40 for the Boys, with the Cowboys’ DeMarcus Ware leading the league with 15.  As for his sprained knee, Ware swears he is fine and dandy for this Sunday’s game and wouldn’t miss it for anything.  Meanwhile, Pittsburgh’s James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley are chomping at their bits to get at Tony Romo.

It will be a truly tough road game with potential playoff implications for the Cowboys so they should be ready to give one of their best efforts, if not the best, of the season in order to win.  The weather doesn’t appear to be favorable to them either, so not only will they face a tough defense, but tough conditions to play as well.  Nonetheless, with all that’s riding on this one and the way they have gained confidence the past three weeks, I feel the team can get it done, I predict a close one- Dallas 17 -10.
