Coming up short is the understatement of the season.

The Dallas Cowboys failed to show up to the final game of the season.

Tony Romo threw for 183 yards on 21 completions while Tashard Choice let the Cowboys on the ground with 13 carries for 56 yards.

Terrell Owens led all receivers with 103 yards on six receptions. The longest one came on a busted play that turned into one to remember.

“[Trent Cole] beat me of off the edge,” Jason Witten said, “and Tony avoided him off the sack and threw it to me. I saw Terrell and threw it back.”

Yep. A lateral pass and throwback went for 42 yards on a busted play. Too bad the rest of the game did not go this well for the Boys.

Romo fumbled the ball twice and threw one pass to Sheldon Brown. Unfortunately, Brown was wearing a green jersey.

It was not just Romo that played poorly. The offensive line did not give Romo much time to work with. Over his first 21 passing attemps, Romo had been rushed eight times, knocked down three of those times, and one went for a sack.

There was also 18 passes that went uncaught.

All aspects of the Dallas game were poorly executed.

Just when there was a bit of life coming back to the Big D, Marion Barber managed to give it away… literally.

When the score was 30-3, Marion Barber was the target of a short pass. He made the most of it by making a threat on the Eagles’ endzone. However, before he got there he was stripped of the ball and Chris Clemons ran the ball 96 yards the other way to put six more points on the board and completely deflate the Dallas Cowboys of any hope of a comeback.

Of the Cowboys’ 13 drives six of them went for 3-and-out, one didn’t make it that far, as Romo fumbled the ball on the second play, and the two longest drives of the day for Dallas also ended with cough ups.

Nothing went right for the Dallas Cowboys, and now they have the whole off-season to think about why they went from Super Bowl favorites to playoff truants. Beware of Skip Bayless and his “I told you so” tomorrow on ESPN.
