The Cowboys almost hired Dom Capers as a consultant, aka defensive coordinator in waiting, last off-season but Capers turned down the job after Brian Stewart, who had worked under Capers in Houston, stated he wouldn’t be comfortable with his former boss on the Cowboys’ coaching staff. Well, Stewart’s comfort at Valley Ranch is clearly no longer an issue but that doesn’t mean Capers will be working for the Cowboys soon. He’s in Green Bay today interviewing to become the Packers defensive coordinator.

It would be a great hire. But does he really want to come here if he is not going to be allowed to call the plays? Jerry has made it very clear that he wants Wade to handle the defense. Besides, I hear the Giants are already after Capers and that he would like to rejoin Coughlin. They were together in Jacksonville.
