Jones Trying to Come Up with a Decision About Owens?

It’s been pretty quiet as of late around the Cowboys camp, that is if you don’t include the mishap this past week with the team not being able to seal the deal to get Dan Reeves to come about to be a consultant. Nevertheless, Jason Cole at Yahoo had an interesting piece on Thursday about Terrell Owens and the issues with him coming back in 2009.

The article says that two sources at the Pro Bowl told Cole that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had a couple veteran players to his home to talk about and see if Owens could be handled and kept around as a part of the team this next season. There was a lot of tension at the end of the season with Owens and QB Tony Romo and TE Jason Witten.

“I really believe that Jerry is going to get the message from people that Owens just can’t work there,” one of the sources said to Cole. “It’s just a bad, bad situation.” Owens is still a big part of the Cowboys offense, and has over 1,000 yards receiving in each of the last three seasons. If the tension between Owens and some of the key players on the team cannot be resolved, Jones’ only choice may be to shop T.O. around or flat out release him.
