Cowboys Release Backup QB Brad Johnson

The Cowboys today released quarterback Brad Johnson. The 40-year-old served as the backup signal-caller to Tony Romo for the past two seasons. He still had one year remaining on the three-year pact he signed in March of 2007.

The 17-year-veteran appeared in just four games — three starts — during his tenure with Dallas, completing 48-of-89 attempts for 506 yards with two touchdowns and five interceptions.

For his career, Johnson has thrown for 29,054 yards with 166 touchdowns and 122 interceptions with Minnesota, Washington, Tampa Bay and Dallas.
