The Cowboys might be losing their second wide receiver of the offseason if Miles Austin is given a poison pill-laden deal by the New York Jets, and speculation from Tim McMahon of the Dallas Morning News has Jerry Jones making a play for Matt Jones. The latter Jones led the Jacksonville Jaguars in receiving in 2008, but has had some legal issues that forced the Jags’ hand in releasing him this offseason.
If you believe the hype on Austin, he could be a game-changing speed threat at receiver, and the same could be said about Jones. Jones has shown tremendous vertical speed and provides a big target at 6-foot-6. Jones’ limitations on-field are his route-running ability and his tendency to take plays off. But as a secondary target behind Roy Williams, Jones could thrive as an occasional deep threat.
There have not been reports of any team sniffing around Jones as of yet this offseason.

Jerry Jones should pick matt up would be a perfect fit for the team and fans.
I would prefer that we stay away from cocaine addicts.
Matt Jones is an awesome player. He made one bad mistake. He is paying for it. Give the guy a chance. He’s a good guy and an awesome athlete. Look at what he has done. He has not yet met his potential. Go for it, Jerry! You won’t be disappointed!
