No Picks on Day 1, but Plenty to Be Had

No, the Cowboys didn’t make a selection with the 51st overall pick in this years NFL draft. Instead, they went down a familiar road by trading down and gathering more picks later on. The Cowboys and Jerry Jones traded their second round pick to the Buffalo Bills for a third and fourth round pick. The Cowboys now have 12 picks on the second day of the draft, including the 5th and 11th pick in the third round.

The Cowboys have the potential to make a big splash on day two of the draft, especially with the two early third round picks that they possess. There are several players left that could be of great value to the team.

In fact, safety Rashad Johnson is a player that the Cowboys may have drafted had they not traded out of the second round, and there is a strong possibility they could still end up drafting him. They also have the potential to score some defensive tackle depth by taking Texas’ Roy Miller, if he isn’t gone with their second pick on day two. Also, expect to see the Cowboys select a wide receiver or two in the later rounds. And as always expect Jerry to trade, trade, and then trade some more.
