The Dallas Morning News blog talks today about the DeMarcus Ware deal:
The Cowboys made it clear that signing DeMarcus Ware to a long-term extension was their top off-season priority.
There is no indication that Ware’s deal will get done before the season opener.
“We’re in the process, but we don’t have those kinds of deadlines as far as time,” said Jerry Jones, who declined to discuss specifics of the negotiations with agent Pat Dye Jr. “Never do, never put that on, but we’re working as we should be with his agent to move it forward.”
Ware will eventually get a deal in the neighborhood of Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth’s record-setting deal for a defensive player. Ware, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, would be a restricted free agent the next two years if the collective bargaining agreement is not extended.
