Cowboys keep KO, and potentially make room for KD

Well cut day in the NFL has come and gone and as expected the Dallas Cowboys have chosen to keep preseason standout Kevin Ogltree as the team’s fifth receiver, and as a result have cut three year veteran Isaiah Stanback. Ogletree has been arguably the Cowboys’ best wide receiver in the preseason, and some (including myself) think he may have done enough to surpass Miles Austin as the team’s fourth receiver.

Saturday was the day that teams officially had to cut down to the NFL mandated 53 man roster. Not only did the Cowboys cut enough players to get to 53, they left themselves room to sign one more player to the active roster. While the Cowboys may have done this in anticipation of a certain player being cut from another squad, I can’t help but wonder if the Cowboys are planning to bring back veteran safety and special teams ace Keith Davis. The Cowboys cut Davis this offseason and he was signed by the Raiders, however just before the start of camp Davis was informed that he would not be joining the team. This may all seem very familiar as the same exact scenario played out for him last year in Miami, and he landed right back with the Cowboys.

At this point there has been no indications that the Cowboys have plans to bring Davis back, however it would seem likely to be in the realm of possibilities considering the team’s continued struggles on special teams coverage units. Something tells me that the longtime special teams captain in Dallas may be making yet another comeback to the blue and silver. Only time will tell that story. Stay tuned.
