Cowboys Sign CB Gordon To Help With Safety Depth

The Cowboys are in need of help at the safety position now that Gerald Sensabaugh is out for at least 2 weeks with a thumb injury. Enter Cletis Gordon, a cornerback. Gordon will not be the one sliding into the safety position. The thought is that CB Alan Ball will slide over to safety to back up Hamlin and Watkins, and Gordon will fill Ball’s current position.

Gordon, an undrafted free agent out of Jackson State in 2006, played for Wade Philips in San Diego. His largest impact came on special teams although he has played in 30 games in his career (1 start). The Chargers cut Gordon near the end of the preseason and he was signed by both Houston and Detroit, who both cut him as well. Gordon had a couple of tryouts earlier this season with Cleveland and Seattle but was not offered a contract.

The Cowboys are hoping Gordon can come in and help out on special teams and provide some depth at the corner position.
