Romo Steps Up to Defend WR Roy Williams

The USA Today reports on how Tony Romo is stepping up to defend WR Roy Williams:

Cowboys QB Tony Romo says don’t be fooled by Roy Williams’ apparent slow start and that he’s very satisfied with his top receiver. Williams has just 11 catches — one fewer than his predecessor, Terrell Owens, has in Buffalo — for 214 yards and one touchdown but Romo isn’t counting the catches. “I think he’s a good receiver and he’s played really well,” Romo told reporters, via the Dallas Morning News. “You guys don’t get to see the number of times he does things without the ball. He’s been doing a lot of good things”. Stats, the Cowboys QB said, are “the most overrated thing in a lot of areas. “Some guys have big numbers but he does things wrong a lot of the time. Another guy does things right all the time, but the ball just doesn’t go in his direction because of schemes or different coverages. He does a lot of things really well that you guys don’t get a chance to see because it’s the ball that people follow.”

  1. Sounds like a lot of Double talk. What Tony should be doing is apologizing for breaking Roy’s ribs. What a jerk! I mean it was almost as if Tony intentionally sacrificed, or “Romo-nized” Roy Williams, as every quarterback in league knows that when you throw that pass, your gonna get your receiver killed. I’m sure Roy knew it (the injury) was coming, even as did T.O.. Unfortunately Roy needed to prove himself. And as pride cometh before the fall, “WHAM”, busted ribs. T.O. knew better, and had nothing to prove. Consequently, Roy got Romo-nized, and T.O. got… well, I guess T.O. got Romo-nized too. 😉
