Garrett Reserved In His Praise Of WR Dez Bryant

It sounds like while Jason Garrett is sure happy to have a big name weapon in Dez Bryant on the roster, so far he’s been pretty reserved in not going all the way out to say that the teams first round pick is going to be a star in the making.

Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator and assistant head coach Jason Garrett spoke with Howard David from Press Pass on Sirius radio about Dez Bryant and his transition from college to the NFL. Here is what Garrett had to say: “We were certainly very impressed with him on tape; his career at Oklahoma State as a receiver was productive. He’s a very impressive guy, he’s one of those guys that really jumps off the tape at you. And then when we got a chance to visit with him, at the combine and when he came to Dallas, and we really got to know him more, we were really impressed by him as a person as well. He’s a rookie, a young guy and particularly at that position, it’s hard to transition into the league as a receiver. There are a number of guys who’ve been drafted high and it’s taken them a couple of years to get themselves acclimated to the NFL game. He’ll have a transition like a lot of other people but we’re certainly excited about what we saw on the field and about kind of person he is.” At the rookie mini-camp that lasted from April 30 to May 2, Bryant flashed his brilliance several times but also appeared winded after running just a few routes in Day 1. At the end of Day 3, Bryant appeared to have rolled his ankle but the Cowboys are saying it is nothing serious.
