Cowboys Will Not Part with Marcus Spears

The Dallas Morning News says that despite reports that the Fins may have interest, the Cowboys will not be making a move with Marcus Spears:

While there was some speculation as to whether Miami could make a call on Marcus Spears, the Cowboys do not have an interest in moving the defensive end. Miami’s need came about with Philip Merling’s Achilles’ injury, but the Dolphins drafted Jared Odrick in the first round and just signed former Jet Marques Douglas to fill the void. Attempting to connect the dots with Spears makes sense because the Dolphins’ brass knows the player well and Spears is making less than his backups Stephen Bowen and Jason Hatcher, but no calls have been made. The teams did have discussions around draft time that involved Spears’ name but nothing materialized. “If we would’ve looked at moving [Spears] we would’ve need it done before the draft so we could get a replacement,” executive vice president Stephen Jones said. “Once we went through the draft and everything, we need Spears. He’s a valuable part of this football team.”
