Cowboys safety Barry Church Making a Push for a Roster Spot

Rookie free agent Barry Church seems to be standing out in camp to the point where he is close to securing to make a roster spot:

Cowboys safety Barry Church made his statement for a roster spot when Gerald Sensabaugh was forced to leave the San Diego game in the first quarter with a shoulder injury. The rookie free agent tied DeMarcus Ware for second on the team in tackles with five (unofficial total), broke up a pass and returned a fumble 80 yards to set up the Cowboys first offensive touchdown of the preseason. Since Sensabaugh will miss the remainder of the preseason, Church will be given the chance to build on his performance. “I felt pretty confident out there,” Church said. “The plays came pretty smoothly to me. I got the calls in smoothly. Overall, I think I played pretty good. I feel I helped the (Cowboys) decision. I’ve still got two more games to prove myself, to prove I belong on this team. Hopefully I’ll be able to make a couple of more big plays against Houston and Miami.”
