Cowher Not Going to Dallas According to PFT

According to a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, there’s no need for Cowboys fans to get too worked up about the possibility of landing former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher, as a “source with knowledge of the situation” tells him that Cowher hasn’t and won’t be a candidate for the Dallas job. Provided this is true, it’s not all that surprising. Cowher’s a guy that wants personnel control. Jerry Jones is an owner that doesn’t offer up a whole lot of personnel control. Although Cowher’s “big name” fits well with the type of splash hire that Jones probably wants to make, and while Cowher certainly has strong knowledge of handling the 3-4 defense that Dallas runs, in the end it just doesn’t seem like the way that Jones will go because of the conflicts involved in the decision-making area of the team.
