Cowboys Add QB Chris Greisen to Active Roster

Rainer Sabin of the Dallas Morning News reports the Cowboys elevated quarterback Chris Greisen to the active roster Friday, less than a week after he was signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad. The move was announced an hour after quarterback Jon Kitna was listed as questionable on the injury report. Kitna suffered a strained oblique muscle in his left abdomen in Saturday’s loss to Arizona, and Stephen McGee played the second half.

“I didn’t progress the way I needed to for me to give us the best chance on Sunday,” said Kitna, who hasn’t practiced this week. “But we’ve got 48 hours. We’ll see what happens.” If Kitna can’t play, McGee will start and Greisen will serve as his backup.

“I was planning on playing,” Greisen, 34, said Friday before his promotion was announced. “I had it in my mind the whole time. I had to prepare like I was the No. 2 guy.”
