Ryan Resurfaces

Although there has been no official word, Rob Ryan appears to be the new Cowboys defensive coordinator. Ryan arrived at Valley Ranch today and is expected to be officially named sometime this afternoon. Ryan had his interview on Friday and it seems as though he agreed to terms sometime over the weekend. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Ryan had agreed to terms on Sunday.

While there is no conclusive reason for the delay in announcing his hiring, Josh Ellis from Dallascowboys.com suspects it is because Ryan is putting together his staff, which could also be announced at the same time as his hiring.

While the former Browns and Raiders coordinator was not overly effective in Cleveland last year, he should be able to improve upon the ranking of the Cowboys defense. The Boys finished 23rd in total defense, one spot behind Ryan’s Browns defense. The Cowboys do have more “talent” on their roster than the Browns and Ryan must be excited to get started.

Look for the Cowboys do officially announce his hiring this afternoon.
