Jones Not Concerned About Staff

While many fans are a little anxious about the empty coaching positions on the Cowboys staff, Jerry Jones is not. Jones has given head coach Jason Garrett full reign in selecting his staff, and while two positions (wide receivers, defensive line) still need to be filled, Jones is not concerned at all.

Jones has been at the center of attention this week with the Super Bowl set to go Sunday at Cowboys Stadium. Jones has had his face in front of cameras for, what seems like, the last week and a half. When asked about a timetable for the coaching staff being finalized Jones said, “There is no timetable.” Jones was pestered as to having any concern over the delay. The calm and cool Jones responded with, “Not concerned at all.”

The Cowboys had made some noise when they hired their defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, and the rest of the staff was expected to fall into place shortly after that hiring. The Cowboys lost three coaches from last year’s staff: Reggie Herring (Linebackers) went to Houston, Paul Pasqualoni (acting d-coordinator, defensive line) was brought on as the head coach at the University of Connecticut, and Ray Sherman’s contract was not renewed for unknown reasons.

While the draft is a few months away, I’m sure the Cowboys will want to have their staff finalized shortly after this week’s Super Bowl. They might be waiting to talk to some coaches that are involved in the big game. By rule, they need to wait until they are finished on Sunday.
