Josh Ellis, a staff writer for DallasCowboys.com by way of Edward Lee of the Baltimore Sun reports the Cowboys could have interest in Ravens strong safety Dawan Landry depending on his status as a free agent. He is currently a restricted free agent, but would become an unrestricted free agent if the rules prior to 2010 were reinstated.
Ellis highlighted Landry’s experience as a starter (64 games in five seasons) and his prowess at stopping the run (193 tackles in the last two years). Ellis also pointed out that the Ravens have a history of allowing Ed Reed’s backfield mate to test the free-agent market (Will Demps after the 2005 season and Jim Leonhard after 2008).
Landry could replace Cowboys strong safety Gerald Sensabaugh, who is also a free agent. Ellis wrote that Dallas’ interest in Landry will come down to new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, whose brother Rex coached Landry as the Ravens defensive coordinator.
