Cowboys Ink OT Doug Free to Four-Year Deal

The Cowboys have agreed to a four-year deal with free agent offensive tackle Doug Free, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

According to Schefter, Free’s deal is worth $32 million and includes $17 million in guarantees.

Free will be eligible to sign the contract at 6pm ET on Friday.

A fourth-round pick (122nd overall) out of Northern Illinois in 2007, Free appeared in just one game his first two seasons and was a backup midway through 2009 before starting the 23 games.

$8 million per year means that Free will be playing left tackle, with 2011 first-round offensive tackle Tyron Smith ticketed for right tackle. The 6-foot-5, 307-pound Smith was a two-year starter at right tackle for USC.

  1. Barry Brown says:

Ok, I love Jason Witten but if I am 6-5, 260 and racing to the end zone and am 5 yards out and let a little DB stop me at the 3 – blame me. Come on Jason drop your shoulder take him on and just win baby. Jason scores and Tony is not the headline, end of story. We go to SF on a high note.
