Asomugha Lands in Philly; LB Brooking Strains Hammy

It hasn’t been a couple of good hours for the Cowboys, as the team failed to get the number one free agent on the market in cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. The stunner about that was the fact he inked a five-year deal with the Cowboys rival – the Eagles.

Stephen Jones had stated on Wednesday that Terence Newman and Mike Jenkins were going to be the teams starters at CB, and now that looks like that indeed will be the case.

Another tough piece of news Friday was the injury to linebacker Keith Brooking, who reports say flung his helmet to the ground in frustration moments after making an interception that he might have returned for a touchdown.

Why – because Brooking strained his hamstring en route to the Alamodome end zone. The Cowboys won’t know the severity of the injury until Brooking is further evaluated on Saturday.

The 14-year vet hasn’t missed a game since suffering a knee injury in his second season, a span of more than a decade.
