Rayner Signs With Cowboys

The Cowboys have signed another kicker. Former Lion Dave Rayner signed in time for Tuesdays practice and was seen sporting, fellow kicker, Kai Forbath’s jersey number. Forbath has been out all preseason with a quad injury. This signing brings the Cowboys to 5 kickers on the 82-man roster that needs to be trimmed to 80 by Tuesday afternoon.

Rayner, who was recently released by the Lions, went 81.3 percent on his kicks in Detroit last season. He has bounced around the league. Since 2005, Rayner has played with six teams, but he is confident he can land a job with a seventh, “If they had the guy they wanted already here, they wouldn’t have brought me in,” Rayner said. “That’s kind of what I went with and obviously I talked to them yesterday and they were pretty excited about bringing me in. I’m going to try to win the job.”

David Beuhler also returned to practice on Monday and is hoping to retain his starting job, not to mention a place on team.
