Carter A Possibility In Philly

After the draft in April one of the things I, and many Cowboy fans, were looking forward to was the arrival of Bruce Carter. Carter, the Cowboys second round pick in the draft, is a middle linebacker from North Carolina.

Carter suffered a season ending knee injury in November of last season while playing as a senior for the Tar Heels. He had been on the Physically Unable to Perform list since the beginning of training camp try to rehab from that injury.

It looks like Carter is set to make his Cowboys debut, and no one is more excited that he is, Very excited, very excited,” Carter said Wednesday. “Trying to get every down, down pat so I don’t [expletive] up, excuse my language. A lot of special teams. A lot of learning, getting in, making mistakes, lot of coaches yelling at you, ‘Go this way and go that way’ and all of that stuff.”

The learning curve is steep for Carter, but he has been getting tips from linebacker Sean Lee the last couple of weeks. When asked why Sean Lee and not Bradie James or Keith Brooking, two more experienced players, Carter responded with, “Look at him (Lee),” Carter said. “Why not? He’s making all the plays.”

While Carter’s role in unclear for the Eagles game, it is likely he will see time on special teams and possibly even some sub-packages on defense.

One thing is for sure, there will be a lot of eyes on him.
