Murray And Church To IR; Morris To Be Added

The Cowboys game against the Giants proved even more costly than initially reported. Tuesday, the Cowboys made a bunch of roster moves to help them deal with the injury issue and depth concerns moving into the remaining 3 games of the regular season.

Running back DeMarco Murray, who fractured his ankle in the loss to the Giants and safety Barry Church, who also separated his shoulder on Sunday, were both moved to the injured reserve as expected. The move of Murray elevates Felix Jones back to the starting tailback, a position he held until suffering a high ankle sprain and missing 4 weeks earlier this season.

The Cowboys have been on the hunt for some depth at both positions and appear to have solved their problem. They are expected to sign veteran Sammy Morris, who played with head coach Jason Garrett when Garrett was in Miami. The Cowboys are also expected to move on Buffalo Bills practice squad safety Mana Silva.

Morris spent the last four season in Miami. The 11-year veteran has not been on a roster this season so he should be plenty rested. Silva spent some time on the Raven’s practice squad before joining the Bills practice squad. The undrafted rookie out of Hawaii is still looking to find a permanent home in the league, and may have found it with the Cowboys.

The Cowboys have signed corner C.J. Wilson to the practice squad to replace the open spot left by WR Antonio Holmes’ call up to the team last week.
