QB Jon Kitna Placed On Injured Reserve

The Cowboys have placed veteran quarterback Jon Kitna on injured reserve, Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports.

Kitna completed six of 10 pass attempts for 87 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions as an injury replacement for starter Tony Romo in the Cowboys’ Week 2 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers. The 39-year-old has a back injury that has kept him inactive the last four weeks, with Stephen McGee operating as the No. 2 quarterback behind Romo.

Kitna is signed through 2013, but those seasons are voidable and Archer reports Kitna is contemplating retirement.

To replace Kitna on the active roster, the Cowboys have elevated wide receiver/return specialist Dwayne Harris from the practice squad. 35-year-old quarterback Chris Greisen has been signed to the practice squad.

It’s Nick’s older brother, QB Chris Greisen, that the Cowboys signed to the practice squad.
