Garrett Says Cowboys Have Never Had Any Sort of Bounty System

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said bounties have “never really been an issue” with his team, and he doesn’t remember any bounties on any team he’s ever been around.

“That’s not something we have done,” he said, meeting with media after a speaking engagement at Highland Park High School on Monday night. “I think we all have a real focus on player safety, and I think everyone understands that. The league has done a really good job of that. We try to do that within our team. So that has not been an issue for us.”

Bounties are the talk of the NFL since a league investigation found the New Orleans Saints engaged in an organized bounty system that paid their defensive players cash bonuses for knocking offensive players out of the game.
