Cowboys Could Come Back Stronger Than Ever

If you follow the statistical evidence behind players in the NFL, you’ll notice a trend emerging. It’s very quickly becoming a pass first league and the game is changing faster than ever. In 2015 the amount of passes, yards and the touchdowns resulting from these are all on the up.

There is one team that’s coming to terms with this and altering their play style accordingly, the Cowboys. They’re all about the running game, which was clearly shown in their pick of Ezekiel Elliott as the new number 4. This has cemented their dedication to the style and the football world is taking note.

The popularity of the game is becoming ever larger too, new casino sites are courting their players with slot games like Football Star. Sites like attribute this to the aspirational nature of the game and the desire to be like the players.

But what these players are doing is changing and the Cowboys are showing themselves to be at the forefront. The 2015 season wasn’t the best for the team and as a result they’re making drastic changes to the way they play. In a world in which players are playing defensively, they want to bring offense to the table.

This isn’t something entirely new, as power football was once the top dog in the sport. Think back to the 80s and you’ll probably remember teams that smashed the opposition with these kinds of formations.

The advantage to this strategy is that it’s not the game that anyone is expecting. The Cowboys are going against the conventions of the league and using this to turn the tables on other teams. Bill Belichick, Patriots Coach, has been espousing the merits of this strategy for years.

They’re always using the hottest strategies out of college football to inspire a different set of tactics. Then, as soon as any other team begins to adopt them, they change to a new tactic once more. This means that the Patriots are always at the top of their game and changing what their opponents expect.

The part of this that harkens back to the power football game is the sub defensive parts of the team. Right now, smaller players have the edge as they can move around faster and pass much quicker. The sub defensive areas are bringing the big boys back and giving them the power they need once more.

This in turn means that the game is getting bigger and more exciting, which means more entertainment for the fans. If this is to be the trend that NFL games are going to take then the Cowboys will be one of the first to implement it fully, let’s see how that works out for them.
