Cowboys Come to Terms with Third-Round Pick DT Maliek Collins

Maliek Collins

The Cowboys signed third-round draft choice Maliek Collins, completing their draft class. The defensive tackle received an $881,152 signing bonus in the four-year deal, Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Collins broke his right foot during the Cowboys’ organized team activities in late May. He underwent surgery and was expected to rehab for 10-12 weeks.

The Cowboys expect his return “around the start of training camp,” coach Jason Garrett said at the time of Collins’ injury.

Collins had eight sacks and 23 tackles for loss in three seasons at Nebraska. He is expected to compete for playing time behind veteran starters Tyrone Crawford and Cedric Thornton. Veteran backup Terrell McClain returns from a toe injury that limited him to two games last season.
