Cowboys left guard La’el Collins will have toe surgery for an injury suffered Sunday against the Chicago Bears, a source told Ed Werder of ESPN on Monday.
Collins is likely going on injured reserve but could return later in the season.
Collins was hurt in the first half and spent the second half of the game in flip flops on the sideline. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said after the game X-rays were negative.
Last year defensive tackle Terrell McClain had season ending toe surgery after getting hurt in Week 2.
Ronald Leary replaced Collins Sunday and would continue as the starter. Leary started every game he played from 2013-14 before being replaced last season by Collins, who was signed to a fully guaranteed three-year deal as an undrafted free agent in 2015.
