Jason Garrett isn’t going to find himself on the hot seat. At least not on Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ hot seat, Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
“It’s fair for you to ask,” Jones said, “but he’s not on my hot seat.”
Garrett is coming off a 9-7 season in which the Cowboys missed the playoffs for the fifth time in his seven full seasons. But Jones is betting on Garrett to get it turned around.
Jones, who attended Tuesday’s Senior Bowl practices, said he’d like to see Garrett win coach of the year again in 2018 after taking home those honors in 2016.
“I would like for Jason to repeat as Coach of the Year within 24 months,” Jones said. “He’s capable of doing that if we do good next year, be Coach of the Year twice in 24 months. That would be great.”
