Cowboys Make Little Impact In Pro Bowl

While there were six Dallas Cowboys playing in the annual AFC/NFC Pro Bowl, you wouldn’t have known it if you didn’t watch the game. The NFC prevailed on the back of a 42-0 nothing lead right before the half and hung on to win the game 55-41. The game was what you expect out of an all-star game a high scoring, bore.

The Cowboys were well represented but found it difficult to contribute much to the game. WR Miles Austin and TE Jason Witten combined for 2 receptions for 26 yards. LB DeMarcus Ware had one tackle. The only players that drew any kind of attention were C Andre Gurode who was seen for most of the game snapping to the likes of Mike Vick, Drew Brees, and Matt Ryan; Matt McBriar who launched a 70-yard punt. No, that is not a typo. McBriar launched a good kick that landed near the right sideline and scooted further down the field to register at 70 yards. The return was only 1-yard by Tennessee’s Mariani. DT Jay Ratliff also had a decent day, recording 3 tackles, and a pass deflected that landed in London Fletcher’s arms for an interception.

While the game was sloppy at times, you could tell that the players were having a lot of fun. While football purist continue to dislike the idea of the Pro Bowl, to take a Parcellsism “It is what it is.” What it is, is an all-star game where players come to have fun, less than compete.
