Cowboys sign FB Chapas from Practice Squad

Unsure of when fullback Tony Fiammetta will return from an illness, the Dallas Cowboys will sign rookie fullback Shaun Chapas off their practice squad, Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports.

Archer adds that wide receiver/return specialist Akwasi Owusu-Ansah is expected to be released to add Chapas, whose signing was alluded to by Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Kris Durham, Chapas’ former University of Georgia teammate.

Dallas’ running game took off with Fiammetta leading the way, averaging 176.3 yards per game over a four-game stretch from Week 7-10. Without Fiammetta the last two weeks, the Cowboys have averaged 87 rushing yards per game.
