There’s good news for Cowboys fans, and that’s that talks are “intensifying” between the team and running back Ezekiel Elliott with both sides looking to close a deal this weekend according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Deadlines spur action and with eight days until the opener, it seems the Cowboys and their disgruntled star are finally getting on the same page.
Elliott has reportedly been seeking Todd Gurley money ($15 million annually) in contract negotiations and while Dallas has been reluctant to meet that lofty threshold, paying the two-time rushing champ his demanded salary may be the only way to get him in uniform by Week 1.
If Elliott gets his desired payday, he’ll immediately slot back in as the Cowboys’ workhorse with impressive rookie Tony Pollard returning to handcuff status.
