Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Says Deal with QB Dak Prescott is “Imminent”

On Friday, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said there was a hope a new contract would be done for quarterback Dak Prescott before the season opener.

Well it didn’t happen. The Cowboys opened the season with a 35-17 trashing of the New York Giants on Sunday at AT&T Stadium and Prescott remains on his rookie contract.

Yet, the Jones Family continues to stress a new deal for Prescott is close, Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reports.

“Oh yes, and when I say that, it would probably be fair to say it will be done in an imminent basis,” Jerry Jones said after the game. “Without being real clear, … it’s not done. On what’s imminent? Days or something like that.”

The Cowboys have held talks with Prescott’s agent, Todd France, the last few days. On Wednesday morning, the Cowboys finalized a deal with running back Ezekiel Elliott, making him the highest-paid running back in league history.
